Biography
Claude Henri Watelet, aside from being an engraver, writer, and art collector, was also an amateur painter. A landscape with figures by Watelet is in the Museum of Coutances, France. He engraved portraits, landscapes, historical and genre subjects. Watelet was born in Paris 28 August 1718; he died there 12 January 1786.
