Biography
Collector Alessandro Contini-Bonacossi is credited with interesting Samuel H. Kress in art collecting, and acted as a dealer for Kress. Contini-Bonacossi is the source of most of the Italian paintings in the Kress collection, selling Kress his first painting in 1927 and remaining Kress' exclusive source until 1936. Alessandro was married to Countess Victoria Contini-Bonacossi (1872-1949) and remarried after her death. Their home, the Villa Victoria in Florence, was sold after Alessandro's death in 1955.Bibliography
