Biography
Duncan Phyfe came to America from Scotland in 1783 or 1784. He settled in Albany but was listed in the New York directory in 1792. In 1795 he moved to Partition Street (Later called Fulton Street), where he maintained the most fashionable cabinetmaking shop in New York. As he did not retire until 1847, his work represents all phases of the classical style, from Hepplewhite and Sheraton the Empire and Victorian. His 'cloverleaf' tables with vase pedestals and brass paw feet, and chairs and sofas with incurved or 'saber' legs and reeded frames are so distinctive as to represent a style of their own.

Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
