Biography

Galerie André Weil was active on the Avenue Matignon, Paris, until the Nazi occupation forced its owner to flee France. Weil escaped via Portugal to the United States, arriving in August 1941. He operated the Matignon Art Galleries in New York. Much of his Paris stock had been confiscated by the Nazis from the Antheaume Warehouse at Saint-Ouen, Seine, in 1942. After the war Weil resumed his business in France.
