Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
Biography
Georgia (born Georgianna) Timken was born in St. Louis in 1864, one of nine children of Henry Timken and Fredericka Heinzelman. Her younger brother, William Robert Timken (1866-1949), formed an art collection that was left to both the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the NGA by his widow (and second wife), Lillian Guyer Timken (1881-1959). Georgia attended the School of Fine Arts in St. Louis, and married her teacher, John Hemmings Fry, in San Diego on 29 July 1891. She also studied in Paris and was a pupil of Harry Thompson, Aime Morot, Schenck, and Cazin. She made a specialty of landscapes with sheep. The Frys adopted a daughter, Fredericka Stimming Fry. Georgia died of bubonic plague in Beijing, China, on 8 September 1921, and is buried in the Timken family plot in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in San Diego.
