Biography
Regnault Danet was a Parisian goldsmith and jeweler, active between 1529 and 1538.[1] He is recorded as making medals for King Francis I in 1529, being paid "40 livres 10 solz" for "trois medailles de bronze grand comme le naturel lesquelle il a vendues et livres audict seigneur François I pour en faire a son plaisir."[2] Only a self-portrait medal, 1957.14.1135, and three lost medals of Francis I of France have been ascribed to Danet.
In 1533 Danet produced three seal matrices for the county of Montbéliard.
